About the lit nerd.

Hey guys :)
Apparently I sound like, and I quote, a “twat” when I write about myself, but I desperately want people to like me, so I shall do my best :)
My name is Emily. I’m a straight, 18 year old female from Wales, Great Britain, and I am currently in a relationship with the lovely Stuart (www.toomanypeopletoacheover.tumblr.com). We’ve been together for over a year now, and it hasn’t been trouble-free, but we’re good at sorting things out, and it all works out in the end, with a little faith, trust and pixie dust. And goldfish. Quite a lot of goldfish.
That’s the easy bit done with - next…
I am a generally happy, “occasionally” sarcastic person, who is widely acknowledged to be a “nerd”. I do get stressed easily (yeah, yeah, I’m high maintenance), and my hissy fits resemble those of Stu from “The Hangover”. As a result, I manage to piss off anyone within a 2 mile radius quite a lot. I also enjoy correcting grammar - it gives me a purpose in life.
I tend to think very logically, and am often called “the one with common sense” by people, though I have a wicked sense of humor, a million different opinions and a well-honed wit.
“People call me a feminist because I express opinions that differentiate me from a doormat” ~ Rebecca West.
I can take a sexist joke as well as the next woman, but that does not mean I won’t flay you within an inch of your life for it.
I am currently a student of A-level English Literature, History and Chemistry, which I love (with the exception of Chemistry, which is usually the sole cause of the aforementioned hissy-fits, and will one day make my brain spontaneously combust).
I am also doing the Welsh Baccalaureate, which is basically key skills such as group work, communication, and how to waste paper.
In the future, I hope to study law in university, and become either a human rights/ criminal barrister, or work in politics. I’ve been accepted to Cardiff University to do Law (though I need to pass all my exams to actually go there.
I read religiously, getting through, on average, 2-3 books a week. I tend to read the classics, my favorites being “Wuthering Heights”, “Pride and Prejudice” and “1984”, but I’m also a HUGE Harry Potter fan (being, naturally, a Gryffindor). Check out my goodreads bookshelf (linked to this blog) for more information, as I have too many beloved books to list here.
I’m also a musician - I play the flute, and I studied Music for six years. I LOVE musicals (my favourites are “Les Miserables”, “Phantom of the Opera” and “Love Never Dies”), I like classical, and I also listen to indie, pop and classic rock. My favourite artist is Mozart, closely followed by the Beatles.
So, that’s me,in all my awkward turtle glory. Feel free to talk to me, about anything and everything (or alternatively, about nothing at all) and I hope you enjoy the blog :)
